Policy about usage of AI in writing
The following are the policies of the Global Journal of Public Health Medicine towards the use of AI in writing, reviewing, or processing manuscripts, including generative AI and AI-assisted technology.
1. Grammar, language, translation, and formatting by AI tools are allowed as long as these tools do not add unverified content or change the scientific meaning.
2. The Methods section should provide adequate detail in regard to the name, version, and settings of the tool, and changes made by people, so that AI software can assist with data analysis, statistical modeling, and figure generation.
3. All AI-generated images, figures, or graphical abstracts have to be fully approved by the Editor-in-Chief. Authors should provide acknowledgment for the used AI tool and take care that any visual content obtained with its help does not violate copyrights and licensing policies.
4. AI tools can never be recognized as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work they publish.
5. Reviewers are not allowed to send in AI-made review reports; this may lead to disciplinary action, such as the inability to review manuscripts in the future.
Disclosure Requirements
In the cover letter and also in an appropriate section of the manuscript, such as Acknowledgments or Methods, authors should include a short statement, including the name and version of each AI tool used in the work, the purpose and extend of its use. • Proof that human authors have looked over and approved all AI-generated content.
